The Commission announces that it has received applications for broadcasting licences to carry on television programming undertakings to provide television services to serve all or any one of Toronto, Hamilton and Kitchener.

Persons interested in submitting such an application are required to file a letter of intent no later than 9 July 2001, followed by a formal application to the Commission no later than 8 August 2001, and are also required to submit all necessary technical documentation to the Department of Industry by the same date.

Call for applications for a broadcasting licence to carry on a radio programming undertaking to serve Toronto, Ontario

The Commission has now received applications for a broadcasting licence to provide AM and/or FM radio service to serve Toronto. The Commission hereby calls for applications for a broadcasting licence to provide AM and/or FM radio programming services that clearly reflect the diversity of languages, as well as the multicultural and multi-ethnic reality of the Greater Toronto Area (GTA).

Persons interested in submitting applications are required to file, with the Commission, a letter of intent no later than 23 April 2001, followed by a formal application no later than 22 May 2001, and are also required to submit all necessary technical documentation to the Department of Industry by the latter date.

Since Industry Canada expects to announce the details of its findings in the near future, the Commission hereby suspends the deadline for filing applications until further notice.

In Public Notice CRTC 2001-39 the Commission invited interested parties to file applications for AM and/or FM broadcasting licences to serve the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) by 22 May 2001.

The Commission, therefore, expects to reactivate this call during the winter of 2002 with a possible public hearing in the spring of 2002.

An ethnic television programming undertaking to serve Vancouver, British Columbia

The Commission hereby calls for applications from parties wishing to obtain a broadcasting licence to provide an over-the-air ethnic television service to Vancouver.
Persons interested in submitting such an application are required to file a letter of intent no later than 15 May 2001, followed by a formal application to the Commission to be filed by no later than 29 June 2001. They are also required to submit all necessary technical documentation to Industry Canada by the latter date.
