For information regarding secure communications with the CRTC for anything other than DCS, please visit the Access Key FAQ page.
An Access Key is a unique electronic credential (username/password) that you use to communicate securely with on-line Government services. You can own several different Access Keys if you choose, or re-use the same one with different services or departments. Your Access Key will not expire if you use it at least once a year.
Apart from using it to submit applications to the CRTC, you will be able to use it to authenticate your identity when you send information to any Government Access Key service. Your Access Key ensures that messages or documents that you transmit on-line are not altered.
If you were a Response Manager or Survey Respondent and you participated in the data collection process last year, your existing epass can be converted into an Access Key by logging in and following the steps outlined. Your existing user id and password will not change. Your user id and password are valid for up to one year since the last time they were used. If you have forgotten your password, it has been more than one year since you accessed DCS or you do not have a user id and password, you will need to follow these steps to obtain an Access Key;
1. Provide us with your name, title, company, telephone number, postal address and email address by using our contact form. Once we have reviewed this information, you will be issued an activation code.
You will only need to use your assigned activation code the next time you access DCS using Access Key. If you do not use your code to activate your Access Key within 14 days, you will need to contact the CRTC to obtain another activation code.
2. The first time you access the Access Key website as a new user, you will register to create your own unique username and password.
3. After you sign the Access Key agreement you will be returned to the DCS web page where you will be prompted to input the activation code you obtained in Step 1.
