Commissioner, Atlantic Region and Nunavut

Elizabeth A. Duncan

Photo: Elizabeth Duncan ELIZABETH DUNCAN, of Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, was appointed Regional Commissioner for the Atlantic Region on May 2, 2005. Since May 15, 2009, she has also assumed responsibility, on an administrative level, for Nunavut.

Prior to her appointment Mrs. Duncan was Chief Financial Officer of a publicly traded software development firm. She brings with her considerable experience in the cable television industry, most recently as Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Access Communications Incorporated in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia.

She was active in the Canadian Cable Television Association and served on the Board of Directors of the Association as Secretary Treasurer and Atlantic Region representative.

She also served as President of the Canadian Cable Television Standards Foundation, the Cable Television Association of Nova Scotia and the Halifax Chapter of Canadian Women in Communications.

Mrs. Duncan is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nova Scotia and a graduate of Dalhousie University.

Mrs. Duncan served on the Board of Commissioners of the Dartmouth General Hospital, Bryony House, Alice Housing and the Business Advisory Board of the Centre for Women in Business of Mount Saint Vincent University.

Her term runs until May 1, 2014.
