Decision

Ottawa, 16 January 1985
Decision CRTC 85-29
New Brunswick Broadcasting Co. Limited
Saint John, New Brunswick - 841387400
Pursuant to Public Notice CRTC 1984-288 dated 27 November 1984, the Commission approves the application to amend the broadcasting licence for CHSJ Saint John by changing the frequency from 1,150 kHz to 700 kHz.
This application was submitted as a result of bilateral agreements concluded between Canada and the United States relating to certain AM broadcasting stations.
When it considers the application for renewal of the licence for CHSJ Saint John, which expires on 30 September 1987, the Commission will take into consideration the Direction to the CRTC on Issue and Renewal of Broadcasting licences to Daily Newspaper Proprietors. Accordingly, in light of the costs to be incurred in effecting the proposed change of facilities, the licensee should use its discretion in deciding whether or not to implement the authority granted by this decision before the expiry of its licence.
Furthermore, in accordance with paragraph 22(l)(b) of the Broadcasting Act, the Commission will only issue the licence amendment, and the authority granted herein may only be implemented, at such time as written notification is received from the Department of Communications that it will issue an amendment to the Technical Construction and Operating Certificate.
Fernand Bélisle Secretary General
