Decision

Ottawa, 9 June 1989
Decision CRTC 89-319
Seventh-Day Adventist Church in Newfoundland
St. John's, Newfoundland - 882389000
Pursuant to Public Notice CRTC 1989-35 dated 25 April 1989, the Commission approves the application to amend the broadcasting licence for VOAR St. John's by adding a temporary transmitter site at VOCM Radio Newfoundland Limited's transmitter site.
The Commission notes that the licensee lost the use of its authorized transmitting tower due to storm damage in January 1985. The licensee has indicated that it will continue to rent a tower from VOCM, as a temporary measure, until an appropriate permanent site is obtained. If within six months of the date of this decision, the licensee has not acquired land to re-establish a permanent AM service, the Commission expects the licensee to apply for authority to establish a permanent installation that conforms with Department of Communications' standards at the present VOCM site.

Secretary General
