Decision

Ottawa, 26 June 1990
Decision CRTC 90-565
Mid-Canada Communications (Canada) Corp., on behalf of a company to be incorporated
North Bay, Ontario - 900256900
Following a Public Hearing in the National Capital Region beginning on 24 April 1990, the Commission approves the application for authority to acquire the assets of CHUR North Bay from CHUR-AM Radio General Partnership, and for a broadcasting licence to continue the operation of this undertaking, under the same terms and conditions as the current licence.
The Commission will issue a licence to Mid-Canada Communications (Canada) Corp., on behalf of a company to be incorporated, (Mid-Canada), expiring 31 August 1994 upon surrender of the current licence. This term will enable the Commission to consider the renewal of this licence at the same time as that of other radio stations in the area. The authority granted herein is subject to the same conditions as those specified in the current licence as well as any other condition that may be specified in the licence to be issued.
This authority will only be effective and the licence will only be issued at such time as the Commission receives documentation establishing that the company has been incorporated in accordance with the application in all material respects.
The Commission notes that this transaction will not result in any change in control of CHUR. Mid-Canada Radio Inc., which currently holds 45% interest in the existing partnership structure of CHUR North Bay, will hold 45% of the shares in the company to be incorporated, with two local residents holding the balance of the shares.
