Ottawa, 11 August 1994
Decision CRTC 94-600
Canadian Broadcasting Corporation
Montréal, Trois-Rivières, Sherbrooke, Rimouski and Quebec City, Quebec - 932332000- 932330400 - 932336100
Licence renewal for CBF-FM and its transmitters
Pursuant to Public Notice CRTC 1994-29 dated 21 March 1994, the Commission renews the broadcasting licence for the radio programming undertaking consisting of CBF-FM Montréal and its transmitters CBF-FM-1 Trois-Rivières, CBF-FM-2 Sherbrooke, CBV-FM Quebec City and CJBR-FM Rimouski, from 1 September 1994 to 31 August 2001, subject to the conditions in effect under the current licence, as well as to those conditions specified in the licence to be issued.
The Commission notes that CBF-FM broadcasts programming originating from the CBC French-language Stereo (FM) network.
In Public Notice CRTC 1992-59 dated 1 September 1992 and entitled "Implementation of an Employment Equity Policy", the Commission announced that the employment equity practices of broadcasters would be subject to examination by the Commission. In the case of the Corporation, the Commission has addressed these matters in the decision renewing the CBC's television network licences.
The Commission acknowledges the interventions filed by l'Association des réalisateurs de la radio au réseau français de la Société Radio-Canada and La Coalition pour la défense des services français de Radio-Canada in support of this application as well as the licensee's reply to the concerns raised by the interveners.
In accordance with subsection 22(1) of the Broadcasting Act, the renewal of the authority for the transmitters CBF-FM-1 and CBF-FM-2 is subject to the issuance of Broadcasting Certificates by the Department of Industry, Science and Technology.
