Decision

Ottawa, 13 April 1995
Decision CRTC 95-149
Newfoundland Broadcasting Company Limited
St. John's and Clarenville, Newfoundland - 941640500
Decrease in power for CKCV-FM
Following Public Notice CRTC 1995-17 dated 6 February 1995, the Commission approves the application to amend the broadcasting licence for CHOZ-FM St. John's, by decreasing the effective radiated power of its Clarenville transmitter (CKCV-FM) from 2,400 watts to 2,070 watts.
The licensee proposes to relocate CKCV-FM's transmitter to a new site at a higher ground elevation and to increase the height of the transmitting antenna. The Commission notes that, as a result, there will be an increase in the service contours as presently authorized. The Commission hereby authorizes the licensee to operate the undertaking on the basis of the contours and particulars resulting from the above-mentioned changes.
The Department of Industry Science and Technology (DIST) has advised the Commission that this application is conditionally technically acceptable, and that a Broadcasting Certificate will only be issued once it has been determined that the proposed technical parameters will not create any unacceptable interference with aeronautical NAV/COM services.
In accordance with subsection 22(1) of the Broadcasting Act, the Commission will only issue the licence amendment, and the authority granted herein may only be implemented, at such time as written notification is received from the DIST that its technical requirements have been met, and that a Broadcasting Certificate will be issued.

Secretary General
