Decision

Ottawa, 30 January 1995
Decision CRTC 95-32
Regional Cable TV (Central) Inc.
Notre-Dame-des-Anges, Quebec- 941220600
Licence amendment
Pursuant to Public Notice CRTC 1994-132 dated 25 October 1994, the Commission approves, by condition of licence, the application to be relieved from the requirement of paragraph 22(1)(b) of the Cable Television Regulations, 1986 (the regulations) to distribute the regional signals of CFAP-TV (TQS) Quebec City, CFKM-TV (TQS) and CIVC-TV (SRTQ) Trois- Rivières, on the basic service of the cable distribution undertaking serving Notre-Dame-des-Anges, due to the poor quality of the signals, as confirmed by the Department of Industry, Science and Technology. The licensee will distribute instead the signal of CFJP-TV (TQS) Montréal and the signal of the Société de radio-télévision du Québec (SRTQ) received via satellite.
The Commission acknowledges the opposing intervention filed by the SRTQ and is satisfied with the licensee's reply to the intervention.
An intervention was also received from TVOntario objecting to the licensee's distribution of the programs of "La Chaîne", received via satellite. The Commission draws to the licensee's attention that, pursuant to the regulations and as set out in the revised list of Part III Eligible Canadian Satellite Services (Appendix to Public Notice CRTC 1995-8 dated 19 January 1995), authorization for the distribution of out-of-province educational services not receivable over the air is subject to the requirement that there be no objection on the part of the originating service. In light of TVOntario's objection, the Commission expects the licensee to cease distribution of "La Chaîne".
