RENEWAL OF CABLE DISTRIBUTION UNDERTAKING LICENCES DUE TO EXPIRE IN 1995
The Commission has received the following applications:
ONTARIO REGION
1. BARRIE, Ontario
Application (950009100) by POWER BROADCASTING INC./DIFFUSION POWER INC. to amend the broadcasting licence of the (radio) programming undertaking CIQB-FM Barrie, by decreasing the effective radiated power from 1,500 to 795 watts.
The licensee has indicated that this reduction in power is coupled with an increase in the effective height of the antenna system and as a result, there is no significant change in the authorized coverage area of the station.

4. BRUSSELS, Ontario

6. TIMMINS AND AREA, Ontario
Applications (941252900, 941250300) by BBS ONTARIO INCORPORATED, 9 Channel Nine Court, Scarborough, Ontario, M1S 4B5, to amend the broadcasting licences for CFCL-TV and CITO-TV, respectively, (television) programming under- takings serving Timmins and area, by relocating the transmitter and transmitting antenna a distance of 29 km from the presently authorized location; and by increasing the effective radiated power for CITO-TV only, from 55,000 to 72,400 watts. The applicant states that the proposed changes are necessary because the existing transmission tower is aging and due for replacement.
The Commission notes that the proposed relocation of this antenna will result in an eastward displacement of the currently authorized service contours.
The Commission was informed by Industry and Science Canada in its technical comments that some communities located to the north and northwest of Timmins, within the existing Grade B contour of CFCL-TV, and to the north and southwest of Timmins, within the existing Grade B contour of CITO-TV, would no longer be served.
The applicant stated in its response that high cable penetration in the affected communities will largely compensate for the reduction of service.

7. ZURICH, Ontario
Application (942116500) by MITCHELL SEAFORTH CABLE T.V. LTD. to change the authorized service area of the (cable) distribution undertaking serving Zurich, by adding the community of St. Joseph and extending south along highway 21 to abut the proposed service area extension of Grand Bend Cable T.V.
