Decision

Ottawa, 25 April 1996
Decision CRTC 96-117
Sagard, Quebec - 199603519
Distribution of TVOntario's service - Application denied
Following Public Notice CRTC 1996-29 dated 23 February 1996, the Commission denies the application by Coopérative de câblodistribution de Sagard for authority to distribute TFO, the French-language educational television programming service of TVOntario, received via satellite, on the basic service of the cable distribution undertaking serving Sagard.
Pursuant to the Cable Television Regulations, 1986 and as set out in the revised list of Part III Eligible Canadian Satellite Services (Appendix to Public Notice CRTC 1996-31 dated 7 March 1996), authorization for the distribution of out-of-province educational services not receivable over the air is subject to the requirement that there be no objection on the part of the originating service.
An intervention was received from TVOntario objecting to the licensee's proposal to distribute TVOntario's educational television programming service, TFO. The Commission notes that the licensee, in reply to the intervention, indicated that it has ceased the distribution of this service.
