Decision

Ottawa, 20 September 1996
Decision CRTC 96-638
Tillsonburg Broadcasting Company Limited
Tillsonburg, Ontario - 952905800
Licence amendment for CKOT-FM
In Public Notice CRTC 1996-68 dated 15 May 1996, the Commission announced an application by Tillsonburg Broadcasting Company Limited (Tillsonburg) to amend the Promise of Performance for CKOT-FM Tillsonburg, by reducing the level of instrumental musical selections from at least 50% to at least 35% of all musical selections played each week.
In Public Notice CRTC 1996-116 dated 23 August 1996, the Commission announced amendments to the Radio Regulations, 1986 (the regulations) that make provision for variations in Canadian content levels for stations programming high levels of instrumental selections that, in the past, were authorized by condition of licence.
Accordingly, the Commission approves the application by Tillsonburg to amend its Promise of Performance and will delete commitments related to Canadian content and to the level of instrumental musical selections broadcast. CKOT-FM will therefore have the flexibility to vary the
level of instrumental selections it broadcasts so long as it meets the levels of Canadian content set out in the regulations.
This decision is to be appended to the licence.
