Decision

Ottawa, 23 May 1997
Decision CRTC 97-227
Coopérative de services d'antenne communautaire de TV de Ste-Rose
du NordSainte-Rose-du-Nord, Quebec - 199610168
Licence renewal
1. Following Public Notice CRTC 1996-154 dated 13 December 1996, the Commission renews the broadcasting licence held by the Coopérative de services d'antenne communautaire de TV de Ste-Rose du Nord, for the cable distribution undertaking serving Sainte-Rose-du-Nord, from 1 September 1997 to 31 August 2004.
2. The operation of this undertaking is regulated pursuant to Parts I, III and IV of the Cable Televison Regulations, 1986 (the regulations) and the licence will be subject to the conditions in effect under the current licence as well as to those conditions specified in this decision and in the licence to be issued.
3. As a consequence of amendments to the regulations announced in Public Notice CRTC 1994-7 dated 3 February 1994, the licensee's proposal to continue to distribute CKRS-TV and CFRS-TV Jonquière and CJPM-TV Chicoutimi is consistent with the amended regulations and no longer requires authorization.
4. The licensee has requested authority to distribute, as part of the undertaking's basic service, TFO, TVOntario's French-language programming service, received via satellite. In view of the fact that it has not received an intervention from TVOntario, the Commission approves the licensee's request. The Commission reminds the licensee that should TVOntario object to the distribution of TFO received via satellite, it will have to cease the distribution of that signal.
5. The Commission also notes that, in response to the interventions by Radio Saguenay ltée and the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation objecting to the licensee's proposal to continue to distribute the CBC French-language television service, received via satellite, the licensee indicated that it does not distribute this service.
6. It is a condition of licence that, for community programming and any other programming of a service that it originates, the licensee adhere to the guidelines on the depiction of violence in television programming set out in the Canadian Association of Broadcasters' "Voluntary Code Regarding Violence in Television Programming", as amended from time to time and approved by the Commission.
This decision is to be appended to the licence.
