Telecom Order

Ottawa, 30 December 1997
Telecom Order CRTC 97-1955
On 1 August 1997, pursuant to Regulatory Framework for the Independent Telephone Companies in Quebec and Ontario (Except Ontario Northland Transportation Commission, Québec-Téléphone and Télébec ltée), Telecom Decision CRTC 96-6, 7 August 1996, the Ontario Telephone Association (OTA) filed under Tariff Notice 33 an application for approval of its PIC/CARE Access Customer Handbook (PIC/CARE Manual) and tariff revisions pertaining to the provision of equal access services. OTA also filed a number of confidentiality agreements.
File No.: OTA Tariff Notice 33
1. Except for the provisions pertaining to PIC processing, the Commission is not in a position to dispose of the proposed tariff revisions at this time because of concerns with OTA's filing which it expects to address, among other things, through interrogatories in the near future.
2. The Commission also defers disposition of the confidentiality agreements, which it expects to rule on at a later date.
3. The Commission is, however, of the preliminary view that OTA's tariff provisions pertaining to PIC processing are appropriate.
4. In light of the foregoing, the Commission orders that:
(a) OTA's PIC/CARE Manual is granted interim approval;
(b) Items 700.1, 700.3.6 and 700.3.7 of the proposed tariff revisions are given interim approval effective 1 January 1998; and
(c) OTA issue forthwith revised tariff pages.
