Telecom Order CRTC 97-615

Ottawa, 9 May 1997

The Commission received an application dated 4 March 1997 from Call-Net Enterprises Inc., on behalf of Sprint Canada Inc. (Sprint), requesting a contribution exemption for a dedicated cross-border circuit, identified as RNS # GIF 00198, leased from Rogers Network Services to the end-user the Department of National Defence.

File No.: 97-8626-S2-02

The application was supported by an affidavit by the end-user.

By letter dated 7 April 1997, Bell Canada (Bell) replied that it noted that the affidavit provided with Sprint’s application affirmed that the circuit in question is provided solely for the use of the customer and satisfies the Commission’s evidentiary requirements.

Bell agreed with the requested exemption.

The Commission notes that the affidavit affirms that the circuit is a dedicated cross-border service and considers that Sprint’s application meets the Commission’s evidentiary requirements for an exemption from contribution.

In light of the foregoing, the Commission orders that:

Sprint's application is approved effective 4 March 1997, the date of application.
