Telecom Order

Ottawa, 16 May 1997
Telecom Order CRTC 97-649
On 13 February 1997, Québec-Téléphone filed an application for approval of tariff revisions to delete articles from its General Tariff that became irrelevant with the deregulation of terminal equipment.
File No.: Tariff Notice 156
1. Québec-Téléphone argued that the proposed amendments are consistent with the provisions relating to terminal equipment forbearance in Regulatory Framework for Québec-Téléphone and Télébec ltée, Telecom Decision CRTC 96-5, 7 August 1996 (Decision 96-5).
2. Québec-Téléphone also referred to an application dated 25 October 1995 relating to the transfer of terminal equipment from the non-monopoly sector to an unregulated subsidiary.
3. The Commission notes that the issues related to the 25 October 1995 application and to the accounting treatment for the transfer of the terminal equipment covered by this application are addressed in a separate letter dated today.
4. The Commission is of the view that deleting the General Tariff articles relating to terminal equipment is consistent with the provisions of Decision 96-5.
5. In view of the foregoing, the Commission orders as follows:
The proposed tariff revisions are approved.
Allan J. Darling
