MTS NETCOM INC. - INTRODUCTION OF PROVINCE-WIDE E9-1-1 SERVICE

Telecom Order CRTC 96-1597
The Commission has received an application from MTS NetCom Inc. (MTS), dated 22 November 1996, for the approval of tariff revisions providing for the introduction of Provincial E9-1-1 Service (E9-1-1 Service).
In a letter dated 18 December 1996, MTS also filed the associated agreement between it and the participating municipality and/or government authority regarding the provision of the proposed service. The proposed agreement contains terms and conditions which define the scope and responsibilities of the parties in the provision of E9-1-1 Service.
Procedure
1. MTS's application, including the agreement, may be examined at any of the company's business offices or at the offices of the CRTC, Room 201, Central Building, Les Terrasses de la Chaudière, 1 Promenade du Portage, Hull, Quebec, or Suite 1810, 275 Portage Avenue, Winnipeg, Manitoba. A copy of MTS's application may be obtained by any interested person upon request directed to the company at the address noted below.

3. Interveners may file comments with the Commission, serving copies on the company by 7 February 1997.
4. MTS may file reply comments with the Commission, serving copies on interveners by 17 February 1997.
5. In addition to hard copy filings, parties are encouraged to file with the Commission electronic versions of their submissions in accordance with the Commission's Interim Telecom Guidelines for the Handling of Machine-Readable Files, dated 30 November 1995. The Commission's Internet email address for electronically filed documents is public.telecom@crtc.gc.ca. Electronically filed documents can be accessed at the Commission's Internet site at http://www.crtc.gc.ca.
6. Where a document is to be filed or served by a specific date, the document must be actually received, not merely mailed, by that date.
The Commission has given the proposed tariff revisions and agreement interim approval under Telecom Order CRTC 96-1597, with an effective date of 1 January 1997, and will make a final determination after comments received in response to this Public Notice have been considered.
