Decision

Ottawa, 8 October 1998
Decision CRTC 98-482
Canadian Satellite Communications Inc.
Across Canada - 199801296
Addition of CKVU-TV and WWJ-TV
1. Following Public Notice CRTC 1998-64 dated 10 July 1998, the Commission approves the application by Canadian Satellite Communications Inc. (Cancom) to amend the broadcasting licence for the national satellite relay distribution undertaking (SRDU) by adding WWJ-TV (CBS) Detroit, Michigan and CKVU-TV (IND) Vancouver to the list of signals that it is authorized to distribute.
2. As part of its application, Cancom requested that WWJ-TV be added to the List of Part 2 Eligible Satellite Services (Part 2 list) Section A and to the List of Part 3 Eligible Satellite Services (Part 3 list); and that CKVU-TV be added to the Part 3 list.
3. Currently, Cancom distributes the Toledo, Ohio signal WTOL-TV (CBS). Cancom advised the Commission that it intends to distribute both CBS signals for a period not to exceed six months from today's date. At the end of this period, it will cease distribution of WTOL-TV. This signal will therefore be removed from Section A of the Part 2 list and from the Part 3 list, six months from today's date.
4. In Public Notice CRTC 1998-104 of today's date entitled Revised Lists of Eligible Satellite Services, the Commission has amended the lists to reflect the approval granted herein.
5. The Commission notes that there were no interventions submitted with respect to this application.
This decision is to be appended to the licence.
