Ottawa, 28 January 1998

Decision CRTC 98-5

Vidéotron ltée

Chicoutimi and Cap-de-la-Madeleine, Quebec - 199708252 - 199708260

Addition of CKMI-TV

1. Following Public Notice CRTC 1997-134 dated 28 October 1997, the Commission approves the applications for authority to distribute, at the licensee's option, the programming service of CKMI-TV (Global) Québec, on a discretionary tier of the undertakings serving the above-noted localities.

2. The licensee is authorized to receive this signal over the air, or from any licensed or exempted Canadian broadcasting distribution undertaking authorized to provide signals to other broadcasting distribution undertakings. The Commission notes that the applicant plans to receive the CKMI-TV signal via optical fibre.

3. The Commission is satisfied that the distribution of CKMI-TV is in line with the guidelines on the cable distribution of distant Canadian television signals first set out in Public Notice CRTC 1985-61 and reiterated in Public Notices CRTC 1993-74 and 1997-84.

This decision is to be appended to each licence.
