Decision

Ottawa, 18 December 1998
Decision CRTC 98-528
Radio Fredericton Inc.
Fredericton, New Brunswick - 199800181
Application processed by
Public Notice CRTC 1998-113
dated 27 October 1998
Increase in power for CJPN-FM
1.  The Commission approves the application to amend the broadcasting licence for CJPN-FM Fredericton by increasing the effective radiated power from 840 watts to 1,560 watts.
2.  The licensee also proposes to move the existing transmitting antenna from its site at the Sainte-Anne Community Centre building and to install it on an NB Tel tower located several hundred feet from the original site. The Commission notes that the proposed changes will result in a modest change to the existing authorized service contours.
3.  The Commission authorizes the licensee to operate the undertaking on the basis of the contours and particulars resulting from the above-mentioned changes.
4.  The Department of Industry has advised the Commission that this application is conditionally technically acceptable. The Department will only issue a Broadcasting Certificate once it has determined that the proposed technical parameters will not create any unacceptable interference with aeronautical NAV/COM services.
5.  In accordance with section 22(1) of the Broadcasting Act, the above-mentioned amendment will only be valid when the Department of Industry certifies to the Commission that a Broadcasting Certificate has been or will be issued.
