Telecom Order

Ottawa, 23 December 1998
Telecom Order CRTC 98-1347
NB Tel Inc. (NBTel) has proposed tariff revisions under Tariff Notice (TN) 770, dated 1 December 1998, for approval of a market trial to provide residential customers with a "Basic User Package". The package includes local services, long distance services, and a combination of calling features and/or Call Answer. In TN 770A dated 7 December 1998, the company proposed to increase the price and make certain changes to the package.
File No.: TN 770
1.NBTel is proposing to make the trial package available to all residential customers in New Brunswick.
2.The Commission notes that consistent with Telecom Order CRTC 95-453, dated 12 April 1995, market trials should have a limited scope. In the Commission's view, the company has not made a compelling argument for the scope of its proposed trial.
3.In light of the above, TNs 770/A are denied.
