Telecom Order

Ottawa, 13 March 1998
Telecom Order CRTC 98-276
On 29 September 1997, Compagnie Téléphone Nantes Inc. (Nantes) filed an application for approval of General Tariff revisions pursuant to the Commission's letter of 13 August 1997, pertaining to the late payment charge and a six-month instalment payment plan for connection charges.
File No.: Tariff Notice 5
1. The Commission notes that in its 13 August 1997 letter, it directed the companies to adopt the bill management provisions of Local Service Pricing Options, Telecom Decision CRTC 96-10, 15 November 1996 (Decision 96-10).
2. The Commission also notes that, in Decision 96-10, it directed the Stentor member companies to offer toll restriction at no monthly charge to residence subscribers noting that the companies could include a one-time charge to deactivate the service of up to $10.
3. The Commission further notes that Nantes is not proposing to offer toll restriction.
4. The Commission considers that Nantes should either conform to the directives set out in Decision 96-10 with regard to toll restriction or else provide an explanation as to why it should not.
5. The Commission notes that it found acceptable the proposal made by Télébec ltée to eliminate the monthly charge but to retain the service order and visit charges for the installation of toll restriction on residence lines served by analog switches.
6. In light of the foregoing, the Commission orders that:
(a) The proposed tariff revisions are approved.
(b) Nantes issue tariff pages within 10 days of the date of issuance of this Order.
(c) Nantes is directed to, within 30 days of the date of issuance of this Order, either file tariffs so as to conform to the directives set out in Decision 96-10 with regard to toll restriction or else to provide an explanation as to why it should not.
