Telecom Order

Ottawa, 26 August 1998
Telecom Order CRTC 98-855
On 22 July 1998, Québec-Téléphone filed an application requesting that it be allowed to bill a Local Directory Assistance (LDA) charge of $0.75 for new and out-of-book listings.
File No.: Tariff Notice 218
1.Québec-Téléphone noted that its proposal is consistent with the existing tariff practices of other telephone companies.
2.Québec-Téléphone proposed that the expanded LDA charge become effective 15 September 1998.
3.The Commission is concerned that the proposed effective date of 15 September 1998 will not provide Québec-Téléphone's customers with sufficient notice of the expanded LDA charge.
4.The Commission is of the view that Québec-Téléphone customers should be afforded more time in order to adjust their calling practices prior to the charge becoming effective.
5.In light of the foregoing, the Commission orders that the proposed tariff revisions are approved effective 1 December 1998. Québec-Téléphone is directed to notify its customers of the expanded LDA charge forthwith.
