BELL CANADA - CONSTRUCTION CHARGES

  Reference: Bell Tariff Notice 6233 (TN 6233)
  1. Bell Canada has proposed revisions to its General Tariff provisions relating to construction charges for extension of service in unserved areas. The company proposes to change the current standard free allowance based on distance (165 metres) to a standard dollar amount ($1,000). The company also proposes to change the basis for determining the costs such that, in addition to costs incurred to extend existing facilities, any other incremental costs such as any cable reinforcement costs extending back to the serving switching centre would be subject to cost recovery. The proposed changes were filed under TN 6233 dated 29 May 1998.
  2. Parties wishing to participate in this proceeding must notify the Commission of their intention to do so by writing to Mrs. Laura M. Talbot-Allan, Secretary General, CRTC, Ottawa, Ontario, K1A 0N2, fax: (819) 953-0795, by 20 August 1998. Parties are to indicate in the notice their Internet email address, where available. If parties do not have access to the Internet, they are to indicate in their notice whether they wish to receive disk versions of hard-copy filings. The Commission will issue a list of interested parties.
  3. Parties may address interrogatories to the company. Any such interrogatories must be filed with the Commission and served on the company by 25 August 1998.
  4. Responses to interrogatories are to be filed with the Commission and served on all parties by 9 September 1998.
  5. All parties may file comments with the Commission on any matter within the scope of this proceeding, serving copies on all other parties, by 29 September 1998.
  6. The company may file a reply to any comments made serving copies on all parties who filed comments by 14 October 1998.
  7. The record of the proceeding may be examined at the offices of the CRTC at the following address:
