NORTHWESTEL INC. - OPERATOR AND DIRECTORY ASSISTANCE CHARGES

  1. The Commission has received an application under TN 677 from Northwestel, dated 30 September 1998, for approval of tariff revisions providing for an increase in Directory Assistance (DA) charges, the introduction of a DA charge for general information requests and an increase in operator handled surcharges including Station Operator Assisted, Person-to-Person, manual Calling Card and manual Credit Card.
  2. Northwestel also proposes: (1) to apply a DA charge on all Long Distance Directory Assistance (LDDA) calls regardless of whether the requested information is available; (2) to remove the DA charge exception for Cellular 400 mobile customers.
  3. Under TN 677, the charge for local DA and LDDA would increase from $1.00 to $1.10. The charge for general information DA would be $1.10.

  7. Northwestel may file any reply comments by 22 December 1998.
  8.
