Newcap Inc.

Thunder Bay, OntarioThunder Bay, Ontario

One-year renewals for CJLB-FM and CKPR

1.  The Commission renews the broadcasting licences for the radio programming undertakings CJLB-FM and CKPR Thunder Bay, from 1 September 1999 to 31 August 2000, subject to the terms and conditions in effect under the current licences.

2.  The Commission has granted administrative renewals in order to consider the renewal of these licences following the review of local management agreements (LMA) announced in Public Notice CRTC 1999-55 dated 31 March 1999. The above-noted licensees are currently subject to an LMA.

3.  The decision released today does not dispose of any substantive issues that may exist with respect to the renewal of these licences. When licence renewal applications have been filed, they will be announced and interested parties will then have an opportunity to comment.
