Decision CRTC 99-390

Ottawa, 30 August 1999

3145069 Canada inc.
Saint-Hyacinthe, Quebec – 199902961

Application processed by Public Notice CRTC 1999-100 dated 21 June 1999

Licence renewal for CFEI-FM

1. The Commission renews the broadcasting licence for CFEI-FM Saint-Hyacinthe from 1 September 1999 to 31 August 2006, subject to the conditions specified in the licence to be issued.

2. In Public Notice CRTC 1992-59 dated 1 September 1992 and entitled Implementation of an Employment Equity Policy, the Commission announced that the employment equity practices of broadcasters would be subject to examination by the Commission. In this regard, the Commission encourages the licensee to consider employment equity issues in its hiring practices and in all other aspects of its management of human resources.

3. Section 22 of the Broadcasting Act states that the Commission may not renew a licence unless the Department of Industry has certified that the licensee has been or will be issued a broadcasting certificate. Accordingly, this renewal is subject to the issuance of technical certification by the Department of Industry.

4. The Commission acknowledges the intervention submitted by l’Association québécoise de l’industrie du disque, du spectacle et de la vidéo (ADISQ) and the licensee’s reply thereto.
