` Decision CRTC 2000-157
Ottawa, 12 May 2000
Fort St. James Television Society
Fort St. James, British Columbia
– 199803127

Application processed by
Public Notice CRTC 2000-49
dated 29 March 2000

Licence amendment to allow the licensee to add transmitters at a new site and to make changes to the television services offered

1.

The Commission approves the application to amend the licence for the radiocommunication distribution undertaking serving Fort St. James by authorizing the licensee to make the changes described in this decision.

2.

In order to provide better service to the Fort St. James area, the licensee is proposing to add transmitters at a new site approximately 5.45 kilometres northeast of the presently authorized site. The licensee will continue serving a "shadow area" near Stone Bay from the currently authorized site until it can determine if the new transmitters can provide good quality signals to that area. It would then cease operation at the current transmitter site.

3.

The complete list of non-encrypted television programming services to be distributed in non-encrypted mode at the new site is as follows:

Open Learning Agency (Knowledge Network)
The Discovery Channel
CBC Northern Television Service
The Sports Network
CKVU-TV (IND) Vancouver
CHAN-TV (CTV) Vancouver
KIRO-TV (IND) Seattle
KING-TV (NBC) Seattle

4.

The licensee is authorized to distribute these services on channels 46, 50, 52, 54, 60, 62, 66 and 68, each with a transmitter power of 20 watts.

5.

The licensee will delete WJBK-TV (CBS) Detroit, Michigan, WDIV (NBC) Detroit, WGN-TV (IND) Chicago, Illinois and MuchMusic from the list of currently authorized services distributed at the present site and add KIRO-TV (CBS) Seattle, Washington, KING-TV (NBC) Seattle, The Discovery Channel and an alphanumeric community programming service.
