Decision CRTC 2000-314
Ottawa, 14 August 2000

Big West Communications Corp.
Drayton Valley, Alberta – 199913992

Application processed by
Public Notice CRTC 2000-76
dated 1 June 2000
Licence renewal for CIBW-FM

1.

The Commission renews the broadcasting licence for CIBW-FM Drayton, from 1 September 2000 to 31 August 2007, subject to the conditions specified in the licence to be issued.

2.

The licensee indicated that it would make payments equivalent to the funding plan for Canadian talent development sponsored by the Canadian Association of Broadcasters, by contributing $400 over each year of the new licence term, to the local music festival society involved in the production of an annual weeklong festival. It is therefore a condition of licence that the licensee make an annual minimum direct contribution as described above, of $400.

3.

In Public Notice CRTC 1992-59 dated 1 September 1992 and entitled Implementation of an employment equity policy, the Commission announced that the employment equity practices of broadcasters would be subject to examination by the Commission. In this regard, the Commission encourages the licensee to consider employment equity issues in its hiring practices and in all other aspects of its management of human resources.
