Acquisition of assets

1.

The Commission approves the application for authority to acquire the assets of the radiocommunication distribution undertaking (subscription television) serving Kennetcook, from Kennetcook Cable Vision Limited and for a broadcasting licence to continue the operation of this undertaking.

The Commission will issue a licence to Dewis Cable Incorporated expiring 31 August 2002, the current expiry date, upon surrender of the current licence. The licence will be subject to the conditions specified in the licence to be issued.

The Commission approves the application to delete the programming service of CHCH-TV (IND) Hamilton and to add, in encrypted mode, WTBS Atlanta. For the distribution of this and the other authorized services, the licensee will use the currently authorized channels.

4.

In Public Notice CRTC 1992-59 dated 1 September 1992 and entitled Implementation of an employment equity policy, the Commission announced that the employment equity practices of broadcasters would be subject to examination by the Commission. In this regard, the Commission encourages the licensee to consider employment equity issues in its hiring practices and in all other aspects of its management of human resources.
