Order CRTC 2000-904

Ottawa, 2 October 2000
Bell Canada
Tariff Notice 6514

KeyPak Promotion

The Commission approves Bell Canada's request for the addition of a promotion for home-based businesses to subscribe to KeyPak service with a shortened promotional period until 28 February 2001.

1.

During the proposed campaign period, home-based business customers who subscribe to KeyPak at their home address will be provided with a one-time credit of $66.99 or $74.99 (depending on rate band) for each KeyPak Dial bundle or $124.99 or $139.99, (depending on the rate band) for the KeyPak High Speed bundle. In addition, customers who subscribe to KeyPak High Speed bundle will qualify for a service charge waiver until 10 February 2001.

2.

In Telecom Order CRTC 2000-10, dated 14 January 2000, under Tariff Notice 6428, the Commission approved the introduction of a promotion from 7 February 2000 to 30 April 2000, whereby customers were provided with a $66.99 or $74.99 one-time credit for each Advantage KeyPak local that they have installed. In Order CRTC 2000-519, dated 7 June 2000, under TN 6474, the Commission approved the renewal of the above promotion to run from 7 June 2000 to 31 August 2000.

3.

The Commission considers the proposed promotion under Tariff Notice 6514 targets a subset of the same customers that were targeted in the promotion approved in Order 2000-519, which expired on 31 August 2000.

4.

The Commission notes that the shorter period for the new promotion would allow both promotions to be completed within the 12-month period allowed without the support of an imputation test.

5.

Bell Canada filed the application on
1 September 2000 to revise Item 685 of its General Tariff.

6.

The revisions take effect 2 October 2000.
Secretary General
