In Decision CRTC 2000-221, the Commission required the licensee of CHCH-TV (Hamilton) and CHEK (Victoria) to file applications for amendments to conditions of licence to incorporate the commitments made with respect to increased local programming and the non-duplicative nature of the priority programs broadcast on these stations.

 

The Commission has received the following proposed amendments which are consistent with the requirements of Decision CRTC 2000-221.

1.

HAMILTON, Ontario

 

Application (200020660) by GLOBAL TELEVISION NETWORK INC. for ONTV LIMITED to amend the licence of CHCH-TV (Hamilton) and all of its broadcasting transmitters.

 

1. To set a minimum level of local programming exhibition of 36 hours 30 minutes, 29 hours 30 minutes of which will be news programming. The new condition of licence would read:

 

Effective 1 January 2001, the licensee shall broadcast, at a minimum, in each broadcast week, the following levels of local news and other local programming: 36 hours 30 minutes of local programming, 29 hours 30 minutes of which is news programming.

 

2. To add a condition of licence in accordance with Decision CRTC 2000-228, to ensure that the 8 hours per week of Canadian priority programming broadcast in peak time would be wholly separate and distinct from the 8 hours of priority programming to be broadcast on CIII-TV. The new condition of licence would read:

 

Effective 1 September 2001, and in accordance with CRTC Decision 2000-228, the licensee shall broadcast, at a minimum, in each broadcast year, an average of 8 hours per week of Canadian programs in the priority program categories between 7 p.m. and 11 p.m. which are wholly separate and distinct from the eight hours of priority programming to be broadcast on CIII-TV.

VICTORIA, British Columbia

 

Application (200020678) by GLOBAL TELEVISION NETWORK INC. and 3669777 CANADA INC. to amend the licence of CHEK-TV (Victoria) and all of its broadcasting transmitters.

 

1. To set a minimum level of local programming exhibition of 23 hours, 17 hours of which will be news programming. The new condition of licence would read:

 

Effective 1 September 2001, the licensee shall broadcast, at a minimum, in each broadcast week, the following levels of local news and other local programming: 23 hours of local programming, 17 hours of which is news programming.

 

2. To add a condition of licence in accordance with Decision CRTC 2000-224, to ensure that the 8 hours per week of Canadian priority programming broadcast in peak time would be wholly separate and distinct from the 8 hours of priority programming to be broadcast on CHAN-TV. The new condition of licence would read:

 

Effective 1 September 2001, and in accordance with CRTC Decision 2000-224, the licensee shall broadcast, at a minimum, in each broadcast year, an average of 8 hours per week of Canadian programs in the priority program categories between 7 p.m. and 11 p.m. which are wholly separate and distinct from the eight hours of priority programming to be broadcast on CHAN-TV.
