Public Notice CRTC 2000-75

Ottawa, 31 May 2000

Telecommunications fees

The Telecommunications Fees Regulations, 1995, SOR/95-157, dated 23 March 1995 (the 1995 regulations), provide for the payment of annual telecommunications fees by certain Canadian carriers. Section 4 of the 1995 Regulations sets out the formula for the calculation of the telecommunications fees.
In Proposed Amendments to Regulations Respecting Telecommunications Fees, Telecom Public Notice CRTC 98-34, dated 20 November 1998 (PN 98-34), the Commission invited comments on, among other things, broadening the base of telecommunications fee-payers and charging fees for international telecommunications services licences.
The Commission has carefully examined the comments submitted by interested parties as a result of PN 98-34 and considers it appropriate that the 1995 Regulations remain unchanged at this time.
As contemplated by section 4 of the 1995 Regulations, the Commission hereby publishes:

(1) the amount to be recovered through telecommunications fees due 30 June 2000: $18.677 million; and

(2) the aggregate of operating revenues for companies subject to CRTC telecommunications fees: $21.81 billion.
