Decision CRTC 2001-594

Ottawa, 17 September 2001

Canadian Broadcasting Corporation
Grand Rapids, Manitoba 2001-0625-4

Application processed by
Public Notice CRTC 2001-81
dated 13 July 2001

Deletion of CBWT's transmitter at Grand Rapids (CBWHT-1)

1.

The Commission approves the application to amend the broadcasting licence for CBWT Winnipeg by authorizing the licensee to delete the transmitter CBWHT-1 Grand Rapids.

2.

Since CBWHT Grand Rapids (operating on channel 8) could not reach Easterville and cover the Grand Rapids area at the same time, the CBC had been using CBWHT-1 (operating on channel 15) as an UHF relay transmitter to extend CBWHT's signal. The CBC has now replaced CBWHT's transmitter and antenna system. With the new facilities, the CBC has been able to design a pattern that enables channel 8 to cover both Easterville and the Grand Rapids area. The CBC, therefore, no longer needs CBWHT-1.
