Order CRTC 2001-139

Ottawa, 14 February 2001

CRTC approves a contribution exemption for Jerivan administrative lines

Reference: 8626-J40-01/01

The CRTC approves a contribution exemption for administrative lines provided to Jerivan Communications Inc. by Bell Canada.

1.

On 15 January 2001, Bell Canada forwarded to the Commission a copy of an affidavit dated 11 January 2001 from Jerivan Communications Inc. Jerivan sought a contribution exemption with respect to services used solely for administrative purposes. Bell Canada subsequently forwarded to the Commission a copy of a revised affidavit from Jerivan dated 18 January 2001, adding one circuit to its list of circuits.

2.

By letter dated 22 January 2001, Bell Canada stated that it has reviewed its records with respect to the services identified in the Jerivan affidavits and confirmed that these services appear to be associated with stand-alone systems that Jerivan appears to use for administrative purposes. Bell Canada stated that it has also reviewed the affidavits provided by Jerivan and noted that they generally comply with the requirements for an exemption of administrative systems. Accordingly, Bell Canada agreed with the requested exemption.

3.

The Commission is of the view that Jerivan has provided evidence that meets the evidentiary requirements for administrative circuits. The Commission approves Jerivan's application effective the date of installation such that no contribution is payable.
