Broadcasting Decision CRTC 2002-46

Ottawa, 20 February 2002

Standard Radio Inc.
Montréal and Laval, Quebec

Applications 2002-0074-1; 2002-0075-9

Extension of time limit to implement new transitional digital radio programming undertakings at Montréal and Laval

1.

The Commission approves the applications by Standard Radio Inc. (Standard), for an extension of the time limit to implement its authorities for transitional digital radio programming undertakings at Montréal and Laval. These authorities were originally granted by Decision CRTC 2001-523 dated 27 August 2001.

2.

The Commission hereby grants the licensee an additional 6 months, until 31 August 2002, to implement these authorities.

3.

In the case of each undertaking, once the licensee has informed the Commission in writing that the construction of the transmitting facilities is completed and that it is prepared to commence operation, a licence will be issued.

4.

The Commission notes that the licences to be issued pursuant to Decision 2001-523 are to expire on 31 August 2002. Accordingly, if construction of the transmitting facilities cannot be completed within the specified deadline, these authorities will become null and void, and Standard will have to reapply to the Commission for broadcasting licences if it still wishes to carry on the proposed digital radio undertakings.
