Further to its Notices of Public Hearing CRTC 2002-6 and 2002-6-1 dated 10 May2002 and 5 June 2002 relating to a Public Hearing which will be held on 15 July 2002 at 9:30 a.m., at the Commission Headquarters, 1 Promenade du Portage, Gatineau, Quebec, the Commission announces that it will also consider the following:

Application by GLOBAL TELEVISION NETWORK INC. (GTNI), to acquire the 49% interest held by the limited partner, TVA Regional Inc., in Global Television Network Quebec, Limited Partnership (Global LP).

 

Global LP operates the television programming undertaking CKMI-TV Quebec and its transmitters in Montreal and Sherbrooke.

 

Global Communications Limited (GCL) is currently the General Partner of Global LP, with 51% of the interests. In accordance with the existing Limited Partnership Agreement between its wholly owned subsidiary, GCL, and TVA Regional Inc., GTNI is exercising its rights to purchase the 49% interests from the limited partner.

 

The transaction will not result in a change of the effective control of the above assets.

 

The applicant is also requesting a licence to continue the operation of the undertaking, in partnership with GCL, upon surrender of the current licence.

 

The Commission invites the public to regularly examine the public examination file of the above noted application in order to become aware of any additional information that could be filed in the future in response to clarification questions from the Commission.
