CKXD-FM Gander - Licence amendment

1.

The Commission approves the application by Newcap Inc. (Newcap) to amend the broadcasting licence for the radio programming undertaking CKXD-FM Gander in order to delete its transmitter CKXB Musgravetown.

2.

The Commission did not receive any interventions in connection with this application.

3.

Newcap stated that CKXB's ageing transmission equipment has led to many breakdowns in the transmitter's operations. According to the applicant, the costs of repairing these breakdowns are prohibitive. It also noted that CKXB's coverage area is served by the following Newcap radio stations: CKVO Clarenville, CKGA Gander and VOCM-FM-1 Clarenville.
