Aliant Telecom Inc.

Reference: Tariff Notice 54

Microlink service

1.

The Commission received an application by Aliant Telecom Inc. (Aliant Telecom), dated 7 November 2002, to transfer the following tariff items to Aliant Telecom General Tariff item 506, Microlink Service.

- Island Telecom Inc. (Island Tel) General Tariff items 3000 and 3010;
- Maritime Tel & Tel Limited General Tariff item 4510; and
- NewTel Communications Inc. General Tariff item 215.

In its application, Aliant Telecom also proposed to introduce Microlink Service in New Brunswick.

Microlink service provides for the digital transmission of information between the company's serving central office and compatible terminal equipment located at the customer's premises.

In its application, Aliant Telecom notes that it has not proposed any change in pricing for this service for Newfoundland and Labrador, Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island. The Commission notes that the proposed rates for this service in New Brunswick meet the imputation test.

In addition, Aliant Telecom proposed to remove from Island Tel General Tariff an expired technology trial.

The Commission received no comments with respect to the application.

7.

The Commission approves Aliant Telecom's application. The revisions take effect as of the date of this order.
