Certification process for terminal equipment

1.

The Commission received an application by Northwestel Inc. (Northwestel), dated 20 June 2003, pursuant to a Commission staff letter entitled New terminal attachment program requirements, 30 December 2002, to implement technical changes to the following items:
 

· General Tariff items 707, Private Line Telephone Services - Full Period;
  1301, General; 1303, Terminal Attachment Plan; 1308, Alarm Sending
  Equipment; 1309, Interconnection of Intra-Exchange Systems; 1310,
  Switched Access Types for Conventional Public Mobile Radio Systems;

 

· Private Wire Service items 107, Use of Service by Customers; item 113,
  Furnishing of Equipment; 207, Channels for Signal Transmission; 1002,
  Station Equipment; 1111, Digital Private Line Services - Digital Network
  Access; 1112, Digital Private Line - Transmission Service (Digital Private
  Line Service); 1113, Managed Digital Private Line - Transmission Service
  (Managed Digital Private Line Service); and

 

· Mobile Telephone Service item 102, Provision of Equipment.

In the December 2002 letter, all incumbent carriers were informed that Industry Canada had modified the certification process for terminal equipment and suppliers would self-certify all terminal equipment, and it requested that carriers file revised tariff pages where existing pages were affected by the changes.

The Commission received no comments with respect to the application.

4.

The Commission approves Northwestel's application. The revisions take effect as of the date of this order.
