TELUS Communications Inc.

Wireless payphone service

1.

The Commission received an application by TELUS Communications Inc. (TCI), dated 5 August 2003, to revise the former TCI General Tariff item 580, Wireless Payphone Service, in order to:
 
  • include alternative payment methods, including billed to a calling card, billed to a commercial credit card, billed as a collect call or billed to a third number; and
 
  • include a reference to the $1.00 per minute usage rate for toll-free service applicable to wireless payphone service (WPS) installations located outside the local exchange service area, consistent with Telecom Order CRTC 99-1118, 3 December 1999.

The Commission received no comments with respect to the application.

The Commission approves TCI's application, with the following modification. The Commission directs TCI to add a reference at the fifth line of the rate table to Note 3, which indicates that the charge does not apply where the WPS is within a local exchange area. The revisions take effect as of the date of this order.
