The Commission received an application by Aliant Telecom Inc. (Aliant Telecom), dated 26 August 2003, to amend the Terms of Service of Maritime Tel & Tel Limited, Island Telecom Inc., NBTel Inc., Newtel Communications Inc. and Aliant Telecom, in order to add two exceptions to the restriction on disclosure of confidential customer information.

The amendments allow for disclosure without express consent to: (i) an agent used to evaluate the customer's creditworthiness, or (ii) a public authority, if in the reasonable judgment of the company, it appears that there is imminent danger to life or property which could be avoided or minimized by the disclosure of the information.

The Commission received no comments with respect to the application.
|
|

|
The Commission notes that these exceptions are consistent with those approved for other incumbent local exchange carriers.
|
|
5.
|
The Commission approves Aliant Telecom's application. The revisions take effect as of the date of this order.
