Telecom Order CRTC 2003-477

  Ottawa, 26 November 2003

TELUS Communications Inc.

  Reference: Tariff Notice 126

Dialed Number Transport Capability

1.

The Commission received an application by TELUS Communications Inc. (TCI), dated 16 October 2003, to amalgamate tariff items associated with Dialed Number Transport Capability, in order to align the monthly rates in Alberta and British Columbia by weight averaging the existing monthly rates.

2.

TCI proposed to amalgamate the former TCI Carrier Access Tariff item 225, Dialed Number Transport Capability, and the former TELUS Communications (B.C.) Inc. (TCBC) Carrier Acess Tariff item 75, Dialed Number Transport Capability, to the TCI Carrier Access Tariff item 219, Dialed Number Transport Capability.

3.

TCI proposed, for consistency with existing TCI integrated tariffs, to:

  • adopt the term "end-customer" as opposed to "subscriber";

  • replace the term "Company" with "TCI"; and

  • replace obsolete tariff references with updated approved tariff references.

4.

TCI submitted that the proposed weighted average monthly rate for Dialed Number Transport Capability would result in a price increase for British Columbia and a price decrease for Alberta, but noted that there is currently no customer for this service.

5.

The Commission received no comments with respect to the application.

6.

The Commission notes that the proposed averaged rate results in only minor changes to the existing rates.

7.

The Commission approves TCI's application. The revisions take effect as of the date of this order.
