Inter-exchange distance charges

1.

The Commission received an application by Bell Canada, dated 7 November 2003, to revise General Tariff items 950, Local channels, 3750, Monthly distance charges or rentals for inter-exchange channels and the associated local channels, and item 4560, Channels for signal transmission, in order to destandardize Class C signal channels as the underlying equipment used to provide for this service has been discontinued by the manufacturer, who also ceased all support.

2.

Bell Canada submitted that it would accommodate demand or growth in those applications through the voice-grade analogue data channel capable of 300 to 3200 Hz bandwidth called Schedule 4 channel service.

3.

Bell Canada further submitted that Schedule 4 channel service has the identical rating structure and rates as those that currently apply to Class C signal channels.

4.

The Commission received no comments with respect to the application.

5.

The Commission approves Bell Canada's application. The revisions take effect as of 1 January 2004.
