Telecommunications fees

The Telecommunications Fees Regulations, 1995 (the Regulations) establish a formula for the calculation of annual telecommunications fees payable by Canadian carriers, as defined under section 3(1) of the Regulations. For the purpose of this formula, the Commission has determined that the aggregate of operating revenues for the last fiscal year of all Canadian carriers required to pay telecommunications fees was $20.886 billion.

Pursuant to section 4(3) of the Regulations, the Commission hereby announces that the total amount to be recovered by the Commission in respect of its current fiscal year (2003-2004) through payment of telecommunications fees is $22.83 million. This includes a $1.05 million adjustment for the fiscal year 2002-2003. These fees are due 2 July 2003.
