CIAU-FM Radisson - Acquisition of assets

  The Commission approves the application by Radio communautaire de Radisson to acquire the assets of the Type A community radio programming undertaking CIAU-FM Radisson.
 

The application

1.

The Commission received an application by Radio communautaire de Radisson (RCR) for authority to acquire the assets of the Type A community radio programming undertaking CIAU-FM Radisson, Quebec from the Corporation de développement économique de Radisson. The applicant also requested a broadcasting licence to continue the operation of this undertaking.

RCR is a not-for-profit organization controlled by a board of directors.

The Commission did not receive any interventions in connection with this application.
 

The Commission's analysis and determination

The Commission notes that the above transaction occurred without its prior approval. The Commission reminds the licensee that prior approval is required for any transfer of the assets of a licensed undertaking.

The Commission approves the application by Radio communautaire de Radisson for authority to acquire the assets of CIAU-FM Radisson and for a broadcasting licence to continue the operation of this undertaking.

The Commission reminds the licensee of all its regulatory requirements including the requirement to submit to the Commission, by 30 November of each year, on the annual report form, a billing statement for the broadcast year ending the previous 31 August.

7.

The Commission will only issue the licence once the vendor has surrendered the current licence to the Commission. The new licence will expire 31 August 2010, and will be subject to the same terms and conditions as those in effect under the current licence.

The Commission will amend its ownership records accordingly.

The Commission notes that the vendor submitted a licence renewal application. In light of the present decision, no further action is required on licence renewal application 2003-1218-2.
 

Employment equity

10.

In accordance with Implementation of an employment equity policy, Public Notice CRTC 1992-59, 1 September 1992, the Commission encourages the licensee to consider employment equity issues in its hiring practices and in all other aspects of its management of human resources.
