Telecom Order CRTC 2004-129

  Ottawa, 19 April 2004

TELUS Communications Inc.

  Reference: Tariff Notice 524

Foreign wire centre service

1.

The Commission received an application by TELUS Communications Inc. (TCI), dated 10 March 2004, to revise the former TCI General Tariff item 280 and TELUS Communications (Edmonton) Inc. General Tariff item 2490, in order to grandfather the Foreign Wire Centre (FWC) service in Alberta (outside the city of Edmonton) and to withdraw the service in the city of Edmonton.

2.

FWC service is a local exchange service provided to a customer from a central office (distant central office) other than the central office (normal central office) which would normally provide the local exchange service by means of a dedicated facility.

3.

TCI stated that there is only one customer for the FWC service and there had been no demand for the service since January 2001. TCI submitted that it has been in contact with the customer to assist the customer in evaluating migration to alternative service options.

4.

The Commission received no comments with respect to the application.

5.

The Commission approves TCI's application. The revisions take effect as of 30 April 2004.
