Telecom Order CRTC 2004-394

  Ottawa, 25 November 2004

TELUS Communications Inc.

  Reference: Tariff Notice 159

ATM network-to-network interface service

1.

The Commission received an application by TELUS Communications Inc. (TCI), dated 29 October 2004, to revise Carrier Access Tariff item 217, ATM Network to Network Interface Service, in order to change the current service description.

2.

TCI submitted that the current service description limits the use of asynchronous transfer mode network-to-network interface (ATM NNI) service to only wide area network (WAN) service providers and the exchange of WAN traffic.

3.

Consequently, TCI proposed to remove these restrictions to allow all service providers to use this service for the purpose of exchanging all traffic that is supported by TCI's ATM network. TCI noted that such traffic would include, but would not be limited to, WAN, Ethernet Transport Service, Frame Relay Service and Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line traffic.

4.

TCI submitted that its proposal would not change the current approved rates. In addition, TCI submitted that existing customers would only be impacted in that they would be allowed to receive and transmit additional types of traffic on ATM NNI.

5.

The Commission approves on an interim basis TCI's application. The revisions take effect on 6 December 2004.
