Telecom Order CRTC 2004-401

  Ottawa, 2 December 2004

Aliant Telecom Inc.

  Reference: Tariff Notice 139

Withdrawal of the Name That Number service

1.

The Commission received an application by Aliant Telecom Inc. (Aliant Telecom), dated 6 October 2004, to withdraw Name That Number service from its General Tariff and to remove any references to the service from the General Tariffs of NBTel Inc. and NewTel Communications Inc. The application was filed pursuant to directives made in Operator services - Reverse search directory assistance, Telecom Decision CRTC 2004-49, 22 July 2004 (Decision 2004-49).

2.

The Commission received no comments with respect to the application.

3.

Name That Number is an optional local service which provides a reverse search directory assistance (RSDA) capability that enables a customer to obtain the name and locality associated with a telephone number found in the company's directories.

4.

In Decision 2004-49, the Commission directed the incumbent local exchange carriers that provided RSDA service to either comply with its directives or to file proposed tariff pages to withdraw the service from their respective tariffs.

5.

The Commission approves Aliant Telecom's application. The revisions take effect as of the date of this Order.
