CBK-FM Regina - New transmitter in Swift Current

1.

The Commission approves the application by the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) to amend the broadcasting licence for the radio programming undertaking CBK-FM Regina, Saskatchewan in order to operate a transmitter in Swift Current to broadcast the programming of its national English-language network service Radio Two.

2.

The new transmitter will operate at 95.7 MHz (channel 239B1) with an effective radiated power of 4,710 watts.

3.

The Commission did not receive any interventions in connection with this application.

4.

C.O.R.B. Swift Current & District Inc. (C.O.R.B.) is currently the licensee of a radiocommunication distribution undertaking (RDU), which operates a transmitter in Swift Current and broadcasts Radio Two originating from CBK-FM Regina. In Revocation of licence, Broadcasting Decision CRTC 2005-142, also released today, the Commission has revoked the broadcasting licence for this RDU, as requested by C.O.R.B.

5.

The Department of Industry (the Department) has advised the Commission that, while this application is conditionally technically acceptable, it will only issue a broadcasting certificate when it has determined that the proposed technical parameters will not create any unacceptable interference with aeronautical NAV/COM services.

6.

The Commission reminds the licensee that, pursuant to section 22(1) of the Broadcasting Act, this authority will only be effective when the Department notifies the Commission that its technical requirements have been met, and that a broadcasting certificate will be issued.
